Recently my focus has been black and white photography. I am back in the darkroom to re-learn what I practised in the 90s. But why?
I have been using digital cameras for years with instant results, the price and all the digital tools that are available. It is effortless against analogue. To create a good image using film cameras and darkroom you always question yourself, did I use the best exposure, speed or diaphragm? Did I keep it long enough in the chemical? Is the p
aper exposed to a slight unintentional light from somewhere? did I rock it too little or too much? Is the temperature right? too many factors can make a different version of a photo. While in digital you can always get the same result with the same algorithm, the challenge of analogue photography the endurance makes it rewarding.
My work does not follow a specific category of photography, instead, I focus on the story that the image has to communicate.
