Initially a hobby started at Morley College while working as a geochemist, pottery quickly became an obsession. I obtained a diploma in Ceramic Design and qualified as a pottery teacher in Adult Education while also setting up a studio at home. My focus is on wheel-thrown functional ware, and I enjoy experimenting with glazes, found clays, beach sands etc. I am influenced by geology, living forms in nature, handmade pottery from around the world, in particular the Orient. I believe that beautiful ceramics enhance the pleasure in food and thus I try to keep my work affordable, so that it will be used.
