Join British Jamaican author and documentary filmmaker Lisa Smith (@lisa4884smith) to discuss her writing journey and her debut novel, Jamaica Road, formed from her experiences of growing up on Pepys Road and local schooling. Set in the 1980s, it explores themes of identity, community and belonging which resonate with the Britain and America of today. Whether or not you’ve read the novel, come for a fascinating talk and discussion! Lisa won the prestigious Guardian 4th Estate 4thWrite prize in 2017 and the Pat Kananagh prize in 2019 and has an MA in creative and life writing from Goldsmith’s.
