Event Details
A mixed evening of music to get you dancing. Joli Blon, an all female toe-tapping Cajun dance trio on accordion, fiddle and guitar; and the New Southpaw Soviet, a melodic five piece who mix folk, slanted pop, time signatures and post rock.
New Southpaw Soviet 7.45-8.45 and Joli Blon Cajun Band 9.00-10.00.
Joli Blon Cajun Band, who take their name from a much loved Cajun waltz, play traditional dance music from Louisiana on accordion, fiddle and guitar. Stomping two-steps, swampy waltzes and a bit of blues - all sung in Cajun French and brought to you by a core trio of women.
NSPS are a melodic five piece who mix folk, slanted pop, time signatures and post rock. Nice things people have said about us in the past include:
“A sublime burst of melodic pop from this as-yet-unsigned London band. Sounds a little like Franz Ferdinand roughing up Martha Reeves and her Vandella’s, egged on by The Smiths.”- Laura Barton, the Guardian
“It’s hard to believe [NSPS] can possibly remain unsigned for long so with any luck we can expect to hear much more from this interesting, talented band … NSPS think they ‘might just have something a little special’, they just be a little right.” – The Line of Best Fit loves the New Southpaw Soviet."
Doors open 7.30pm.
