Event Details

The New Cross Road has been a major thoroughfare from roman times to today. From an area of market gardens to manufacturing industry; a high street and bustling suburb. Learn about how it has changed, shaped by the Victorian railways, two world wars and the demands of modern society, the history behind its buildings and the people who lived there.

There is a lot more history here than meets the eye! Join Malcolm Bacchus from the Telegraph Hill Society in this walk, exploring New Cross Gate and New Cross, and the wider area.

The walk is suitable for all, though as it traverses New Cross Road it is not recommended for young children or for those with buggies or pushchairs.

Meet at 1.45pm outside Haberdashers Hatcham College, Jerningham Road.
