Mixed-media artist, combined career in education, with long-term independent practice. Currently living in St Leonards on Sea, was former participant in Deptford’s contemporary art network including Creekside Open. Drawing & Painting Co-ordinator at City Lit Adult Edcuation College, London; currently teaching short modules in drawing and expanded painting practices (2014-present).
"Image fragments are gathered from nature and culture: the sea and the city, science and kitsch - ideas come fleetingly into focus, captured as a stain into fibre, a tattoo on a canvas skin.
The stain has no tactile presence, no impasto, instead my paintings go through cycles of tearing, collapsing and reforming to explore and activate the surface, the image locked into creases and folds. Illusion is destabilized as 3D form and edges are found."
