Many of us are so used to living with unconscious-but-habitual muscular tension that we cannot remember the ease & spontaneity of youth. Awareness Through Movement teaches you to let go of this unconscious muscular corset, and to transfer the work of resisting gravity away from muscles that are unsuited to the task and back to your skeleton – which is an amazing piece of engineering designed by evolution to do the job of maintaining a dynamic state of balance continuously and effortlessly.
Feldenkrais enables the unravelling of unconscious physical tensions, however the long-term aim is greater ease in every aspect of life, and the development of a flexible approach to the changing circumstances of daily existence. Every time you can catch yourself tensing up again, you learn a little more about your habits, and your true nature; from there you can really begin to enjoy your life much more.
