Zoë - Festival community musical
TWO PERFORMANCES
|
Music by John Lunn; Words by Stephen Plaice A past-her-prime movie star engages a private eye to solve a mystery: Who is sending me photos of this young girl who looks exactly like I used to? |
Meanwhile, an eccentric industrialist has just relocated his genetics business to a South Coast market town. His daughter, Zoë, longs to fit in, joining the local sixth form and the school rock band. But then the trouble starts. Zoë was first performed as a Glyndebourne opera project, and was then made into a film for Channel 4. Its composer John Lunn (Downton Abbey, Little Dorrit) acts as Musical Director for this production. Working with our directing/design team of Sophie Robson and Caroline Thorp, they've adapted Zoë into a piece of musical theatre that's ideally crafted for our huge, local, all-ages cast. Expect strong lead performances and a great live band. Performed with the permission of Boosey and Hawkes, John Whitfield will be adding multimedia to the mix as well as designing the lights.

Dead, White and Blue |
CANCELLED BUT RE-SCHEDULED FOR MONDAY |
In this new mystery by Susan Edwards, directed by Margaret Willman, times are turbulent as the recession hits South London and Telegraph Hill. Rioting in the streets, unemployment topping 2.5 million - but at least there's the Royal Wedding to look forward to. Tension rises as the party in the park approaches. Community celebrations may not be everybody's cup of tea. It's 1981 and "this town, is coming like a ghost town...". After this promenade performance, which includes a short walk and is not seated, you are invited to assist the detective in solving the murder. As Eurovision winners Buck's Fizz sang that year "you will find that there comes a time, for making your mind up!" |
£10.00 (£5.00) wine included Sorry, no children under 12. Please note: this is an unseated promenade performance and begins with a short walk. It may not be suitable for people with sensory deficits or limited mobility. Please phone the Access Helpline on 07740 799757 for advice.
